cervical rib

Introduction

A supernumerary rib articulating with the 7th cervical vertebra, but rarely attach to the sternum. Commonly found in asymptomatic people.

Pathology

Cervical ribs may compress fibers of the inferior trunk of the brachial plexus causing cervical rib syndrome.
