Introduction

Ribs [3-10] are typical & have:

Head:

• wedge shaped & has 2 facets, separated by the crest of the head

Neck:

Tubercle:

• smooth articular part for articulating with the corresponding transverse process of vertebra
• rough nonarticular part for attachment of the costotransverse ligament
