Introduction
A transversely running passage in the pericardial sac between the origins of the great vessels.
Boundaries:
- anteriorly by the serous pericardium covering the posterior aspect of the pulmonary trunk & aorta
- posteriorly by the visceral pericardium covering the atria
This pericardial sinus is formed as a consequence of the folding of the primordial heart tube, partially approximating the great venous & arterial vessels.
