tympanic canaliculus

Introduction

A small passage (canaliculus) from the inferior surface of the petrous part of the temporal bone, between the jugular fossa & the carotid canal, to the floor or the tympanic cavity.

It is located in a wedge of bone separating the jugular canal & carotid canal.

It transmits the tympanic branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve.
