repolarization

Introduction

A process of excitable cells whereby a depolarized cell or fiber having lost its potential difference (charge) across a semi- permeable membrane is polarized again using energy (ATP)- dependent transport systems (pumps) to re-establish the membrane potential (negatively charged interior).
