Introduction
Radiating fibers from the tendon of insertion of the biceps (continuation of biceps distally).
- forms a triangular band that passes obliquely across the hollow of the elbow to the ulnar side & gets merged into the deep fascia of the forearm.
- provides the muscle with an indirect attachment to the subcutaneous border of the ulna Importance:
- Serves to protect the brachial artery & median nerve during phlebotomy of median cubital vein.
- Helps lessen the pressure of the biceps tendon on the radial tuberosity during pronation & supination of the forearm.
