costoxiphoid/chondroxiphoid ligament (anterior/posterior)

Introduction

Anterior chondroxiphoid ligament:

  • A band of ligamentous fibers which connects the anterior surface of the 7th costal cartilage, (occsionally 6th) to the anterior surface of the ensiform appendix. The fibers varies in length & breadth in different objects.

Posterior chondroxiphoid ligament:

  • A similar band of fibers on the internal surface, but less thick & disinct.
