Introduction
Nucleus Z is a brainstem structure located just rostral to the nucleus gracilis.
Afferents
- it receives second order afferents from muscle spindles in the lower extremities via the dorsolateral funiculus & from muscle spindles in the upper extremities via the dorsal columns
Efferents
- nucleus Z projects to the contralateral thalamus
