Origin
- maxillary division of the trigeminal nerve (CN V-2)
Innervation
- mucosa of the maxillary sinus
- the upper incisors, canine & premolars
- the upper gums
- inferior eyelid & conjunctiva
- part of the nose
- upper lip
Course
- a continuation of the maxillary nerve (CN V-2)
- it traverses the pterygopalatine fossa & enters the orbit, via the orbital, then exits the orbit via the infraorbital canal to reach the face, supplying the mucosa of the maxillary sinus, the upper incisors, canine & premolars, the upper gums, the inferior eyelid & conjunctiva, part of the nose & the upper lip
