superior mesenteric ganglion

Introduction

An often paired sympathetic ganglion located at the origin of the superior mesenteric artery from the aorta.

The neurons comprising the ganglion send postsynaptic fibers to the portions of the small intestine & large intestine supplied by the superior mesenteric artery.
