Origin
Course
- superficial vein in the medial aspect of leg
- originates in the foot anterior to the medial malleolus
- runs up the medial aspect of the leg
Empties into
- femoral vein anteriorly just inferior to the inguinal canal
Pathology
- valvular incompetence with retrograde venous flow resulting in venous stasis
