at the dorsum of the thumb

Course

• curves around the radial side of the thumb, ascends the middle of the forearm.

Empties into

• just below the bend of the elbow divides into:
  • intermediate basilic vein
  • intermediate cephalic vein
  • may divide lower down, one branch to the basilic vein & the other to the intermediate vein of the elbow
