A term used to denote individuals with hepatic isozymes slow to acetylate pharmaceutical agents

Clinical significance

• in slow acetylators, 1/2life of a pharmaceutical agent may be prolonged
• dosage of pharmaceuticals metabolized by N-acetylation may need to be administered on a less frequent basis
