Introduction
A smooth area of simple stratified epithelium that lies between the anal valves superiorly & the inferior border of the internal anal sphincter inferiorly.
Histology
- it is lined with non-keratinized squamous epithelium which transitions into true skin (keratinized squamous epithelium) at the level of the intersphincteric groove.
