Introduction
Sphingolipids (both sphingomyelin & glycosphingolipids) are synthesized in the cis GOLGI. Like cholesterol, sphingolipids favor thicker bilayers, & are concentrated in plasma membrane. Little sphingolipid is found in ER, nuclear & mitochondrial membranes.
