Introduction
Ergonovine maleate.
Indications
- provoking coronary vasospasm in patients with suspected Prinzmetal's angina
- prophylaxis for migraine
- when amitriptyline & propranolol contraindicated
- 0.2 mg IV/IM (PO ?) BID
- hemorrhage, postpartum hemorrhage[3]
Dosage
0.2 mg/mL for injection
Adverse effects
Mechanism of action
- partial agonist or antagonist at alpha-adrenergic, dopaminergic & serotonin receptors
- produces vasoconstriction mainly of capacitance vessels
