Introduction
Deposits of hemoglobin in erythrocytes seen under the light microscope only after supravital staining, such as crystal violet.
Etiology
- glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD deficiency)subsequent to oxidative stress
- Ivemark syndrome
- unstable hemoglobin variants
