Clinical manifestations

  • exquisitely tender subungual papule or nodule
  • paroxysmal painful attacks, especially elicited by exposure to cold
  • generally occur as solitary subungual tumors
  • may occur as multiple papules or nodules (glomangiomas)
    • glomangioma do not occur underneath the nail
    • may occur anywhere on the skin surface
    • largely vascular rather than solid as a solitary lesions
  • may also be found on the tympanic membrane (glomus tympanicum)
