CRAL-TRIO lipid binding domain

Introduction

Structurally conserved domain of about 170 amino acids, forming a hydrophobic lipid binding pocket. The pocket floor consists of 6 beta-strands & the sides are formed by alpha-helices.

It is found in:

• GTPase-activating proteins
• guanine nucleotide exchange factors
• hydrophobic ligand binding proteins
  • retinaldehyde-binding protein
  • alpha-tocopherol-binding protein
