Introduction
A globular domain of about 80 amino acid residues found > 50 proteins involved in G protein signaling. Its name is derived from 3 proteins (Dishevelled, Egl-10, & Pleckstrin) in which it was initially identified. The DEP domain is thought to play a role in targeting to specific subcellular membranes.
The DEP domain consists of a 3-helix bundle, a beta-hairpin 'arm' consisting of 2 beta- strands & 2 short beta-strands in the C-terminal region.
