Introduction
Repeating unit of collagen fibers. Glycine is the invariant residue, being the only amino acid residue small enough to occupy the crowded interior of the collagen triple helix. Proline & hydroxyproline are frequently associated with evenly spaced glycines found 3 residues apart.
