- Rodgers blood group antigen derives from C4S fragments; also known as C4A distinguished from C4a (C4 fragment-a)
- complement component C4 is polymorphic at 2 loci, C4A & C4B
- 13 alleles of C4A & 22 alleles of C4B have been detected
- the C4A alleles carry the Rodgers blood group antigen
