Introduction

Ultraviolet with wavelengths of 320-400 nm. UV-A can be transmitted through glass.

Notes

  • front windshields in automobiles block 96% of UVA light
    • shatterproof front windshields contain 2 layers of glass with a UVA-blocking layer of plastic in between
  • side windows block 71% of UVA light (variable, 59-96%)
    • side windows are made of a single layer of glass
    • tinting has no effect[3]
