Function
- Ca+2-dependent actin filament-severing protein
- remains tightly bound to barbed end of F-actin after severing filament
- presumed to have a regulatory function in exocytosis by affecting the organization of the microfilament network underneath the plasma membrane
- in vitro, has barbed end capping & nucleating activities in the presence of Ca+2
Structure
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
expressed in secretory cells
Comparative biology
- Severin in Dictostelium homolog
