Introduction

Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) is a catalog of human genes & genetic disorders authored & edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick & his colleagues at Johns Hopkins & elsewhere, & developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information & references. It also contains copious links to MEDLINE & sequence records in the Entrez system, & links to additional related resources at NCBI & elsewhere.

Notes

OMIM is intended for use primarily by physicians & other professionals concerned with genetic disorders, by genetics researchers, & by advanced students in science & medicine. While the OMIM database is open to the public, users seeking information about a personal medical or genetic condition are urged to consult with a qualified physician for diagnosis & for answers to personal questions.
