Function
- peroxisomal protease
- mediates both removal of the leader peptide from proteins containing a PTS2 target sequence & specific processing of PTS1 proteins
- role in peroxisomal beta-oxidation of fatty acids (putative)
- processed into 49 kD & 10 kD forms upon import into peroxisomes
- 49 kD form probably corresponds to t mature enzyme
- 10 kD form may represent an inhibitory N-terminal fragment which prevents protease activity until it reaches peroxisomes
Structure
belongs to the peptidase S1B family
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
