Indications
- test functional significance of renal artery stenosis
- unilateral renal parenchymal disease as etiology of hypertension
- test presence of renin-secreting renal neoplasm
Notes
- a positive test is indicated by renin-activity of 1.5 times the contralateral side
- in some patients, effect may only be apparent after administration of furosemide
