Function
Structure
- contains 1 phorbol-ester/DAG-type Zn+2 finger
- contains 1 Rho-GAP domain
- contains 1 SH2 domain
Compartment
peripheral membrane
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- expressed in brain & pancreas > heart, placenta > kidney & liver
- germ cell expression during acrosomal assembly in rat testes
Pathology
- expression is much reduced in the malignant gliomas, compared to normal brain or low-grade astrocytomas
- insufficient expression of beta-2 chimaerin is expected to lead to higher Rac activity & could therefore play a role in the progression from low-grade to high-grade tumors
