Function
- Zn+2-efflux transporter which allocates the cytoplasmic Zn+2 to the trans-Golgi network (TGN) as well as the vesicular compartment (putative)
- hetero-oligomer
- interacts with ZNT5 (putative)
- appears to exert transport function by forming complexes with ZNT5
Structure
Compartment
- trans-Golgi network
- found in vesicules
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
Expression
- expressed in brain, especially in cerebellum, hippocampus, parahippocampal gyrus, superior & middle temporal gyrus
- expressed in B cells, colon, eye, & lung > bone, brain, cervix, ear, heart, kidney, muscle, nerve, pancreas, prostate, skin, stomach, & testis
Notes
- seems to have lost most of the His in the loop between the 4th & 5th transmembrane regions
