Profilin-2; Profilin II (PFN2)

Function

• binds to actin & affects structure of the cytoskeleton
• modulates polymerization of actin inhibits it at high but enhances it at low concentrations
• by binding to PIP2, inhibits formation of IP3 & diacylglycerol
• occurs in many kinds of cells as a complex with monomeric actin in a 1:1 ratio
