Function
- G-beta & G-gamma chains are required for
- GTPase activity of heterotrimeric G proteins
- replacement of GDP by GTP
- G protein-effector interaction
Structure
- G proteins are composed of 3 units G-alpha, G-beta & G-gamma
- belongs to the WD repeat G protein beta family
- contains 7 WD repeats
Expression
nearly ubiquitously expressed
Polymorphism
- a single-nucleotide polymorphism, rs1047776 in GNB3, seems to accelerate cognitive impairment in men receiving androgen deprivation therapy[4]
