Function
- troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of troponin, the thin filament regulatory complex which confers Ca+2 sensitivity to striated muscle actomyosin ATPase activity
Structure
belongs to the troponin T family
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=7 additional isoforms seem to exist
Expression
- expressed in fetal & adult fast skeletal muscles
- higher level expression in fetal than in adult muscle
Pathology
- defects in TNNT3 are a cause of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, distal, type 2B
