• hydrolysis of some nucleoside diphosphate derivatives
• can degrade 8-oxo-dGTP in vitro
  • prevent misincorporation of 8-oxo-dGTP into DNA thus preventing A:T to C:G transversions
• substrate specificity in vivo unclear
• may have a role in DNA synthesis & cell cycle progression through interaction with PCNA
  • interaction with PCNA is disrupted in response to UV irradiation

8-oxo-dGTP + H2O = 8-oxo-dGMP + diphosphate
