Function

• hydrolyzes on epoxides (alkene oxides, oxiranes) & arene oxides
• role in xenobiotic metabolism by degrading potentially toxic epoxides
• determines steady-state levels of physiological mediators
• low phosphatase activity

Kinetic parameters:

• KM=1.1 mM for p-nitrophenyl phosphate
• Vmax=5.8 nmol/min/mg enzyme
