Function
- component of the RNA polymerase 1 complex
- second largest core component of RNA polymerase 1 which synthesizes ribosomal RNA precursors
- roposed to contribute to the polymerase catalytic activity & forms the polymerase active center together with the largest subunit (POLR1A)
- POLR1B is part of the core element with the central large cleft & probably a clamp element that moves to open & close the cleft (putative)
nucleoside triphosphate + RNA(n) <--> diphosphate + RNA(n+1)
Structure
belongs to the RNA polymerase beta chain family
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
