Procedure
- behavioral technique by which information about a normally unconscious physiologic process is presented to the patient & the clinician as a visual, auditory, or tactile signal
- the signal is derived from a measurable physiologic parameter which is subsequently used in an educational process to accomplish a specific therapeutic result
- the signal is displayed in a quantitative way, & the patient is taught how to alter it & thus control the physiologic process
