• accepts uridine, deoxyuridine, & thymidine as well as the two pyrimidine nucleoside analogs 5-fluorouridine & 5-fluoro-2'-deoxyuridine as substrates
• pyrimidine metabolism; UMP biosynthesis via salvage pathway; uracil from uridine (phosphorylase route): step 1/1
