Epidemiology
- common developmental disorder
Pathology
- cerebral lesions in permanent acquired form
Clinical manifestations
- interruptions of normal speech by involuntary repetition
- prolongation or arrest of uttered letters or syllables
- acquired form (differs from developmental form)
- prolongation & blocks are restricted to the initial syllables
- no adaptation
- not accompanied by grimacing
- may be transient or permanent
