Function
- myosin regulatory light chain
- role in regulation of both smooth muscle & nonmuscle cell contractile activity via its phosphorylation
- implicated in cytokinesis, receptor capping, & cell locomotion (putative)
- binds Ca+2
- phosphorylation increases the actin-activated myosin ATPase activity, thus regulates the contractile activity
- required to generate the driving force in the migration of cells, but not necessary for localization of myosin-2 at the leading edge (putative)
Structure
contains 3 EF-hand domains
