Introduction

White matter tracts lateral to the gray matter of the spinal cord containing ascending axons from sensory neurons & descending axons from motor & autonomic neurons.

Pathology

-the lateral columns of the thoracic & cervical spine degenerate in vitamin B12 deficiency
