Clinical manifestations
- little impairment of consciousness - patient generally remains alert
- single neurologic modality affected
- motor: small region of body, jacksonian, adversive, aphasia
- sensory: any of the 5 senses
- autonomic: cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, genitourinary
- duration: 30-90 seconds each
- generally followed by a post-ictal state (20 minutes[2]) Diffential diagnosis:
- generalized absence seizure:
- duration generally < 15 seconds
- no post-ictal state[2]
- generalized absence seizure:
