Indications
- test medial meniscus & lateral meniscus
Procedure
- with the patient lying prone, the knee flexed at 90 degrees, holding the raised foot with one hand, apply downward pressure simultaneously applying either external or internal rotation at the ankle
Interpretation
- medial or lateral knee pain is a positive sign
- medial knee pain with external rotation indicates injury to the medial meniscus
- lateral knee pain with internal rotation indicates lateral meniscus injury
