Introduction

  • How many blocks can you walk? or Can you walk 4 blocks?
  • How many flights of stairs can you walk up? or Can you walk up 2 flights of stairs?

Individuals with good exercise tolerance, i.e. ability to walk at least 4 blocks & 2 flights of stairs are at low risk for post-operative morbidity & may not require additional testing prior to elective surgery.
