Offered at only a few centers. University of Pittsburg has considerable experience in performing intestinal transplantation[2].
Indications
- short bowel syndrome secondary to bowel resection
- inability to tolerate parenteral nutrition
Management
- FK506 (tacrolimus) is more effective then cyclosporine for immunosuppression
