Etiology
- benign ductal hyperplasia
- papillary of dysplastic duct changes
- mucous secretion from intraductal carcinoma
- pancreatic cyst
Pathology
- it is ALWAYS a premalignant condition if not already acarcinoma
- involves the main pancreatic duct, branches or both
Clinical manifestations
- recurrent attacks of pancreatitis
Laboratory
Radiology
- dilated pancreatic duct on computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging
Management
- pancreatic resection
- better prognosis than ductal adenocarcinoma
