Introduction

Neuroectoderm in the embryo that arises from the dorsal surface of the neural folds or neural tube. This tissue leaves the neural folds or neural tube & differentiates into tissue that gives rise to:

• dorsal root ganglia
• autonomic ganglia
• chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla
• Schwann cells
• sensory ganglia of cranial nerves CN-5, CN-9 & CN-10
• part of the meninges
• melanocytes
