• associated with defects in cytokeratin-75

Clinical manifestations

• anagen hairs are easily pulled from the scalp
• hair is relatively sparse & does not grow long
• hair of fair color & hair shafts of reduced caliber, & an early age of onset are features
• usually the hairs are not fragile & there are no areas of breakage
