Uses

• used in liniment & ointment preparations used for strains, sprains, & bruises

Adverse effects

• contains the toxin helenalin, which can be poisonous if large amounts of the plant are eaten
  • gastroenteritis
  • GI hemorrhage
• contact with the plant can also cause skin irritation

Mechanism of action

• contain thymols
