Introduction
Acronym for questions used in the assessment of alcoholism.
C: Have you ever felt you should Cut down on your drinking?
A: Have people Annoyed you by criticizing your drinking?
G: Have you ever felt Guilty about your drinking?
E: Have you ever had to take a drink 1st thing in the morning to get going or steady your nerves (Eye-opener)?
Sensitivity of 80% & specificity of 85% if 2 or more positive responses is used. The higher the CAGE score, the higher the probability of alcohol dependence.
