anterior commissure

Introduction

A round bundle of nerve fibers that crosses the midline of the brain near the anterior border of the 3rd ventricle, just posterior to the rostrum of the corpus callosum.

It consists of 2 parts:

• pars anterior
  • smaller part
  • olfactory fibers (at least in part)
• pars posterior
  • larger part
  • interconnects right & left temporal lobes
